BCG Timeline
1992A group of Birchip farmers is inspired by a trip to the Hart field day site in SA and decide to run a series of variety and herbicide demonstrations in its own backyard.
Local farmer, Trevor Grogan, donates 40 acres on which to perform research trials for the next 10 years.
Canola and lentils were demonstrated in the southern Mallee for the first time. Rob Velthuis provides support to the group in establishing and managing agronomic trials.
