BCG Timeline
1994The BCDS produce its first compilation of trial results: the Southern Mallee and Northern Wimmera Crop and Pasture Manual.
Staff members include Felicity Pedley as Coordinator, Travis Mitchell as Field Officer and Harm van Rees as Consultant.
Trial work continues at two sites, on the properties of Trevor Grogan and Keith Barber. Our Main Field Day is themed ‘The challenge to change’.
A lack of rain, coupled with frosts and high winds, makes spraying herbicide trials difficult. Moisture stress in crops and weeds leads to poor uptake of applied herbicides.
On the bright side, the lack of rain shows varieties which can continue to grow under dry conditions.
