BCG Timeline
1997The BCDS becomes known as the Birchip Cropping Group (BCG).
Felicity Pedley resigns as Coordinator and Caroline Peters is employed as Facilitator. Simon Crane is employed as Trials Coordinator and Anne Jackman as Trials Assistant.
Membership grows from 295 to 380.
A new initiative involves the addition of two satellite trial sites, one at Charlton and the other at Berriwillock, adding to the diversity of information available to farmers whose land encompasses different soil types and climatic conditions.
Our Main Field Day, ‘Growing under pressure’, is held at the research site on Harold Gould and Keith Barber’s properties on the Sunraysia Highway.
Our budget expands by one third to $300,000 for the year.
