BCG Timeline
2000Caroline Peters resigns after three years. New staff include Tony Eyres as Manager, Tamara Starbuck and Mark Phelan as Trials Assistants, and Katrina Scott as Administration Assistant. A total of seven full-time staff and one consultant are employed.
The construction of a new building is commenced.
Our Main Field Day, ‘2000 technologies’ is held at the research site on Lee’s property east of Birchip.
A diagnostic school on herbicide actions proves an outstanding success.
The Fax Bulletin is initiated and Anne McClelland produces weekly newspaper articles.
A new initiative involves holding dinners with guest speakers before the Expo and Field Day. These are well attended and enjoyed.
A two-day strategic planning workshop is held to consider the future of our group.
Results of our trials, along with those of three other farming systems groups (Eyre Peninsula, Central West Farming Systems and Mingenew-Irwin) are presented on the Grain Zone website in a GRDC-funded project ‘Development of on-farm trials template for the grain zone’.
