Birchip Leisure Centre lights up!

Flame throwers, fun and fantastic food set the mood for the annual BCG Expo dinner last Wednesday night. Instead of a traditional, formal, sit-down dinner, guests were dazzled with excitement and activity. Acrobatics, up-close magic and contortionists kept people captivated throughout evening.

Two hundred and fifteen farmers and industry professionals attended the annual prelude to the 2007 BCG Grains Research Expo. A highlight was the pure voice of Ainslie Wills accompanied by pianist James Patterson who added a touch of jazz to the night.

A sumptuous meal, prepared by the Uniting Church ladies committee, involved five courses of delicious food and, with the support of the netball club, was professionally delivered.

Guest speakers, Dr Geoffery Fincher and Dr Steve Jefferies, capped the night off by talking about some of the fantastic breakthroughs in genetic research that will be commercially available in farmers’ paddocks in the not-so-distant future.

It was a great night enjoyed by all who attended.
