Grain marketing – a CLEAR way forward
A feature of the 2009 BCG Grains Research Expo will be a special Grain marketing discussion session. Facilitated by grain industry commentator, Malcolm Bartholomaeus, this session will focus on the new grain marketing option known as CLEAR. Sarah Scales, Executive Consultant, CLEAR Commodities Pty Ltd, will be explaining how the system works, the fee structure, what growers need to keep in mind to get the best from the system, how it fits into a deregulated marketing environment as well as how CLEAR interacts with other large marketing bodies such as AWB. AWB’s National Accumulation Manager, Jonathon White will also be participating in the session.
BCG Extension Manager Fiona Best said, “This is a perfect opportunity for growers to hear about this relatively new system of grain marketing. While it is a system that has been available to growers for 12 months, there are still many questions growers have about the details of the system.”
The forum will be one of six discussion sessions held throughout the day. Other sessions will include: Grain storage, Genetically modified (GM) wheat and other grains, Weather models – why the contradictory messages?, New climate forecasting tools, WeedIT technology and managing summer weeds and Profitable farming systems in the Wimmera Mallee.
BCG encourages everyone to come to the BCG Grains Research Expo on the 2 July at the Birchip P-12 School. Her Excellency Ms Quentin Bryce, AC, Governor-General will be officially opening the event. A FREE breakfast is available at 8.30am and entry into the Expo is also FREE.
