Tackling Tough Times Regional Forums a success

BCG has just completed a series of four forums across the Mallee Wimmera region entitled ‘Tackling Tough Times’. The events, held in conjunction with local learning centres and local golf clubs, were extremely successful in terms of community attendances and the number of regional services providers who were on-hand to offer support.

The first event, held at Donald on Friday 11 August, kick started with an energetic fun run/walk followed by a scrumptious breakfast. This was followed by an event at Rainbow on Tuesday 15 August which was extremely well attended by both community members and service providers. The Rainbow event was also held in conjunction with an art show which featured a terrific range of artwork and quilting by local Rainbow artists.

The final two events, at Birchip on Friday 18 August and Woomelang on Tuesday 22 August, involved breakfast, nine holes of golf and a bbq lunch. Whilst ‘preferred lies’ and ‘maximum scores’ were amongst the ‘local’ rules, the standard of golf was very high and only superseded by the level of participants' enjoyment.

The ‘Tackling Tough Times’ forums were funded through the Victorian State Government and form part of a range of initiative organised by BCG to assist with the current challenging season being faced by farmers. The forums were designed to provide important information and supportive environments for farming families and community members to assist in making more informed agronomic, business and welfare decisions.
