Women's Agronomy Group talk trials

BCG’s Women’s Agronomy Group held its third meeting for the year on Wednesday 17 September out at the BCG Main Trial Site. The day involved a relaxed tour around the site guided by BCG Extension Manager Fiona Best.

The tour commenced at the soil pit where soil characteristics and interpreting soil test results were discussed. Other key highlights were visiting the GM Canola demonstrations, assessing the new chickpea and lentil varieties, debating the issues surrounding managing inputs, viewing some of the new crop options for the Mallee, looking at the moisture conservation over summer demonstration as well as looking at the new wheat and barley varieties being trialled as part of the National Variety Trial program.

BCG will host a Women’s Field Day on Thursday 23 October.
