Premier Steve Bracks congratulates the BCG
"When you think about the BCG, there is one word that comes to mind always, and has come to mind ever since we’ve been in government, and that’s the word ‘innovation’.
"If you look around Australia, you’ll probably see no better example of great innovation, and we’re very pleased and proud to work with the Group, to use it as a vehicle to assist and support other people in our primary industry sector in Victoria. I want to congratulate Ian and the team on what they do, and can I encourage them to keep it up as well, because what happens here is very, very important for the future of our primary industries section as well."
That's how the Premier of Victoria, Steve Bracks, opened his speech at the BCG Grains Research Expo on 7 July 2005.
Mr Bracks officially opened the Expo and also made an announcement of rate relief assistance to those farmers eligible for Exceptional Circumstances assistance, plus additional funding for schools.
He welcomed the Agricultural Minister, Bob Cameron, the President of the Victorian Farmers Federation, Paul Wellar, Ian Hastings, the President of the VFF Grains Group, Peter Harris, the head of the DPI, Cr Reid Mather, mayor of the Buloke Shire, and other councillors who were present, including Cr Robyn Ferrier.
Mr Bracks thanked and congratulated BCG Chairman, Ian McClelland, and the Board and staff of the Group, concluding, "I think it’s one of the best organisations in the country. It’s a lighthouse for other organisations."![]()
