Don’t miss BCG’s Members’ Day

BCG invites all BCG members to the specifically designed Members’ Day at Culgoa on Friday 13 August. The day will cover a variety of topics including the seasonal outlook, hay versus grain decision tools, mice control, fungicide management and golf!

Boort farmer and BCG member Tyler Nelson commented: “Members’ Day is a great opportunity to have a sneak peak at 2010 trials while also receiving informed advice on how to tackle the big issues ahead. It’s also a good time to catch up with other members and find out what’s happening in their area, what the issues are and how they’re being managed.”

A topic of particular interest will be the seasonal outlook. Tim McClelland Yield Prophet Coordinator commented: “With good early season rainfall and a strong La Nina forecast, prospects look good. It’s been a while since we’ve been in this position. With this in mind growers will need to think carefully and have all the facts. As we know and will be discussing on the day, we might be restricted by more than rainfall this spring.”

BCG ExtensionCoordinator Kate Ferrier commented on the day: “We really look forward to Members’ Day. As a farmer-driven organisation we rely upon our members for input and ideas to ensure we are meeting the needs of farmers and agricultural communities.

“Delivering information that is up to date, relevant and specific to growers’ needs at this time of year means that BCG members will be in a better position to capitalise on whatever the season brings.

Members’ Day starts at 12.00pm with a BBQ lunch at the Culgoa Golf Club on Dog Netting road 5km south of Culgoa. The day will conclude with a longest drive golf competition (if you want to play golf bring along your clubs). The day is free for BCG members. For more information please contact BCG on (03) 5492 2787 or info@bcg.org.au. RSVP by Tuesday 10 August.
