What to do about fertilisers next year? This was the topic of discussion at a Pivot sponsored workshop held in late October. The workshop was attended by a good cross section of the industry: farmers, private consultants, NRE, suppliers and fertiliser agents. The farmers' contributions were an excellent reality check - discussing the pressures of negative incomes and crop inputs for next year!
To test whether added nitrogen increased screenings.
The two trials undertaken by the BCG to assist in developing a management plan for malting barley are the barley sowing time and nitrogen fertiliser, and the seeding rate and row spacing trials.
To demonstrate how managing paddock stubble load and weed burden (paddock surface conditions) during summer can affect subsequent crop yield.
The aim of this study was to extend work carried out in 2003 (converting rainfall into dollars) and investigate the effect of rainfall on farm gross income in the southern Mallee and Wimmera.
This article considers why controlled traffic works in the farming systems of northern NSW and southern Qld, how it might work in the Mallee, and how the 'accidental' Mallee controlled traffic trials can be identified and harvested.
