Trial Sites

Below is a list of BCG's trial sites and their locations. For more information about each of the sites either follow the links or contact the BCG via any of the contact details listed on our Contact Us page.

Trial Site	Location
Main site	Each year the main and satellite sites change location to different soil types. Herbicides and fertilisers are tested, new and old varieties are planted, and different agronomic problems are investigated. In 2008, our main site is located on Peter and Brenda Doran's property, 30km north west of Birchip on right-hand side of the Sunraysia Hwy.
Mallee R&D (northern satellite) site	In 2008 is located on Brian Barry's Manangatang property.
Nitrogen & Fungicide Management	There are two collaborative sites with FAR and SFS at Lubeck (Peter and Ian Taylor), investigating nitrogen and fungicide management.
Sustainable Agriculture	There are sites at Sea Lake, Hopetoun and Waitchie with respective Landcare Groups with collaborative monitoring of sustainable agriculture.
Flexible Farming Systems	In 2008 this long-term trial enters its ninth year of production. The Flexible Farming Systems site is located at Jil Jil, 26km north of Birchip (15ha). On this site, rotation studies are undertaken comparing four common farming systems.
Herbicide trials	This project continues previous trials for managing herbicide resistant ryegrass. The resistant ryegrass site is located on Ian McClelland’s property near Culgoa.

There are no large trial sites in the Wimmera in 2008, however there are a number of specific research sites including Nitrogen and Fungicide Management trials.
