The important research is communicated via an extensive extension program. Our flagship events, Trials Review Day and the Main Field Day, are permanent fixtures of the agronomic calendar and these are supported by a suite of workshops, discussion groups, field days, crop walks and symposiums delivered independently or in partnership with a range of collaborators.

RSVPing for events makes it easier for us to plan ahead and ensure that you have the best possible experience!

BCG – Integrated Pest Management Workshop (SIG)

11 Mar 2021 @ 10:00am - 1:00pm
73 Cumming Avenue, Birchip, VIC, 3527

BCG, alongside our project partner FMC, are undertaking an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) applied research project with technical assistance by leading Australian Entomologists, Dr Paul Horne and Jessica Page.

The workshop will be tailored to the specific interests of the group, using examples from relevant crops.

During the workshop we ask participants to nominate crops in which they would like to trial IPM.

We then work with participants to develop a simple IPM strategy that includes:

  • All the pests that need to be managed in the crop
  • Key beneficials – the natural enemies of the pests
  • Cultural control options – management strategies to discourage pests and encourage beneficial
  • Compatible chemical control options – chemicals that cause minimal harm to key beneficials and can be used as a support tool when biological and cultural control in not enough.

Our strategies clearly demonstrate how to successfully integrate biological, cultural and chemical control options to achieve better pest control with reduced reliance on insecticides.

Numbers for the workshop are strictly limited. Reply now to ensure you don’t miss out.
