DESCRIPTION:Join us at Kooloonong for a season and soil discussion as part of our four-year paddock-scale stubble management project. \nWhen: Thursday 26 June\, 9:00am – 12:00pm \nWhere: Larkin Rd\, 4km south of Kooloonong \nThe discussion will cover: \n\nThe season so far\nOverview of local paddock constraints and management strategies implemented to increase production\nMallee seeps\, and incorporating sands and clays in-paddock\nSoil analysis\nLocal trials including:\n\nSandy soils with Michael Moodie\, Frontier Farming Systems\nHyperyielding cereals with Kenton Porker\, CSIRO\nVarieties and time of sowing with Nutrien Manangatang/Ouyen\n\n\nOther local projects such as Water Repellent Sands with Zoe Wilson\, BCG\n\nWe will be joined by local agronomist Michael Moodie (Frontier Farming Systems)\, senior soil scientist Mel Cann (Agriculture Victoria) and farming systems research agronomist Kenton Porker (CSIRO). Tea/coffee and a barbecue lunch will be provided. \nThis event is run as part of the MCMA DAFF funded soil project – Sus Ag Climate Smart Agriculture Program which was: Farmers are supported to drive agricultural growth\, while adopting sustainable NRM practices that protect soil. \n
