SUMMARY:Crop cover in the paddock
DESCRIPTION:Join BCG for a short paddock catch-up at the Curyo Long Term Drought Resilience Trial and hear the latest findings from researchers working to support productive broadacre farming in dry and variable conditions. \nThe morning will begin with a trial overview from Ash Tierney (BCG)\, followed by presentations from leading researchers: \n\nDr Hassan Sardar and Professor Richard Bell (Murdoch University) – Soil Constraints\, Water Use and Drought Resilience\, exploring treatment responses\, how soil constraints influence crop water use\, and practical implications for local farming systems.\nProfessor Terry Rose (Southern Cross University) – Plant Diversity and Soil Function\, discussing plant diversity treatments\, previous trial findings\, and links between diversity\, soil constraints and water management.\nDr Michael Rose (Southern Cross University) – Soil Biology Across the Treatments\, presenting soil biology results and their implications for soil function and crop performance.\nDr Michael Rose – Herbicide Tolerance and Residues in Soil\, examining crop tolerance to herbicide residues\, how soil type and seasonal conditions affect persistence\, and the implications for crop sequencing\, soil testing and future research.\n\nThe event will conclude with an open question and discussion session\, providing attendees with the opportunity to speak directly with researchers and discuss how the trial findings can be applied to local farming systems. \n \nThis event is supported by the Soil CRC.
