The countdown is on for Birchip Cropping Group’s 2019 Main Field Day, to be held on Wednesday 11 September, at Karyrie. This one-day event is a chance for BCG to share it’s applied, in-field research directly with members and industry.
The trials extend across two paddocks, with canola and cereals on a fallow and pulses on barley stubble. The site is 9km west of Birchip on the Sunraysia Highway.
“The BCG team have been working hard to develop a program worthy of this premier event, featuring lots of relevant information and highly regarded speakers” says Communications Officer Angela Mazur.
A feature of each Main Field Day is the opportunity for attendees to choose from four site tours. Each tour takes a visit to various research trials where BCG research staff, agricultural scientists, leading industry professionals and leading farmers will be on hand to discuss the trials and answer questions.
BCG are excited to share their trials this year off the back of last year’s drier conditions. With some great December rainfall helping get the 2019 season started.
The day starts at 8:15am with breakfast, with a formal opening from BCG’s Chairman John Ferrier, and a Q&A session with the site’s hosts Lachlan and Andrew Barber.
As always, the BCG’s Main Field Day is a great opportunity for farmers to take the day off the farm, catch up with friends and neighbours, and gain some valuable information and perceptive to finish of the season.
Entry is free for BCG members and a cost for non-members, with lunch available for purchase on site. For details contact BCG on 5492 2787 or at www.bcg.org.au/events
