Birchip Cropping Group Inc. (BCG) offers services to support farmers in the Wimmera and Mallee regions of Victoria, and to educate others on what it takes to produce food and fibre here. We are also proud to lead the North West regional node of the Victoria Drought Resilience Adoption and Innovation Hub.
BCG offers a soil sampling service to farmers within 175 km of Birchip who, before sowing, want to know the current nutrient status of their soil; identify physical and chemical property imbalances; and improve production and profitability through efficient nutrient management.
Our popular Farm Tours have been developed to showcase farming in the Buloke Shire – a three hour experience with local farmer hosts and a paddock-to-plate lunch.
BCG's leadership in research and communication activities have resulted in our role as leaders of the North West regional node of the Victoria Drought Resilience Adoption and Innovation Hub, funded by the Federal Government’s Department of Agriculture Water and Environment’s $5 billion Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund initiative.
We publish our BCG Season Research Results each February, which contains the full results of the year's trials and fieldwork.
