Good communication leads to farm success. BCG’s Tomorrow Farmer event, rescheduled to Friday 20th of August, is a customised event focusing on communication within the farm business.
BCG is hosting this event with funding from FRRR’s In a good place due to farmer feedback regarding the consequences poor communication can have on the farm business, the bottom line, safety and mental health. As it’s a farming business, these issues can become those of the farming family and these relationships.
Tom Bell from Tomorrow Architects will be facilitating the event. Tom, who has worked with companies across the globe as well as AFL football clubs such as Richmond and Essendon, said: “The Tomorrow Farmer event will deliver the skills farmers need to not only have the crucial conversations to ensure both business and family are in a good place but also give them an insight into the lives of those they need to be having these conversations with. These insights create bonds which create a shared experience which are the foundation of any good communication.
BCG CEO Fiona Best said: “Farming is a unique industry where so often business and family life are so intertwined that it can become difficult to know how and when to start the conversation. If there’s a communication barrier, this can not only affect the business, it can affect the family and mental health.”
“After the Tomorrow Farmer event, farmers and their employees will not look at communication the same way,” Tom finished.
The free event will run from 9am to 4pm on Friday the 20th of August at the Birchip Leisure Centre. All members of the family business, including employees, are encouraged to attend. Registration is essential. If you registered for the postponed June event, your registration has automatically been transfers to the new date.
