Birchip Cropping Group (BCG) is seeking an experienced, energetic, outcome focused, enthusiastic & qualified Research Agronomist to join us on a full-time basis. Reporting to the Senior Manager Research, this role is responsible for supporting the delivery of high-quality research and extension projects. This role will also work with the Extension & Communication team to ensure that project outputs are extended and communicated for the benefit of BCG members and wider farming community.

Qualifications & experience
- Formal qualifications in agriculture or related discipline.
Highly Desirable;
- Understanding and working knowledge of grain growing, mixed farming systems and rural communities.
- Demonstrated interest in the development of ideas and issues and seeing them transformed into adopted on farm practice.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills in building and sustaining relationships.
- Proven communication skills for use with clients and project teams.
- Sound oral and written presentation skills applied to write coherent reports and public speaking skills.
- Strategic thinker.
Desirable;
- Agronomy and/or grains research experience.
- Project planning and delivery experience.
- An industry network of researchers and agribusiness professionals whom you have delivered projects and research trials with.

Tasks & responsibilities
- Assist with the delivery of relevant research project deliverables to achieve project objectives.
- Assist with planning, preparing, monitoring, measuring, recording and reporting trial developments.
- Support the delivery of in-paddock trials including plot preparation, management and harvesting.
- Assist with project reporting requirements.
- Assist with writing and/or research of articles and other communications.
- Promote BCG capabilities to research networks, industry, BCG members and other farmers.
- Support extension activities.
In conjunction with Extension & Communications team;
- Assist with the creation of technical content generated by research projects undertaken by BCG.
- Present BCG research and findings at relevant events and conferences where appropriate.
