Young Farmer Network Study Tour

August 10, 2025 • 10:00 am - August 11, 2025 • 4:00 pm

Join us on Sunday 10 August – Monday 11 August for a Melbourne study tour designed to equip early career growers with knowledge on the supply chain beyond the farm gate, as well as an opportunity to network and socialise with other young farmers!

This unique experience offers the chance to explore the grain and hay supply chain, gain insights into market drivers, and understand how sustainability expectations are shaping industry practices.

You’ll come away with a better understanding of:

-How grain quality, handling, and storage impact marketability and end use performance

-The role of logistics and export pathways in determining hay pricing and contract options

-How sustainability and emissions reporting are influencing supply chains and consumer demands

What’s included:

-Return transport from Birchip to Melbourne (with pick-up options along the route)

-Corporate box at the MCG (Melbourne vs Western Bulldogs), with food, drinks, and guest speakers from GrainCorp, Koch Fertiliser and Clear Grain Exchange

-Tour of Elders’ Ravenhall Wool Facility

-Visit to Cargill’s Oil Crush and Sustainability Program

-Site tour of Hay Australia’s Bridgewater export facility

Please fill out this form to submit your expression of interest.

This tour is supported by GRDC, the Federal Government’s Future Drought Fund Victoria Drought Resilience Adoption and Innovation Hub and the Commonwealth of Australia through the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water under the Carbon Farming Outreach Program.
