Manangatang Crop Walk

August 26 • 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free

Join BCG for a practical morning exploring soil amelioration, nutrition and farming systems research in the Mallee.

The session will bring together results from local trials at Annuello and Manangatang, with plenty of opportunity for discussion and hands-on learning.

Topics will include:

  • Deep ripping and nutrition – results and learnings from the Sandy Soils II trials.
  • Liming acidic soils – findings from liming trials at Annuello and Manangatang, including the interaction between lime and soil amelioration.
  • Getting hands-on with soil cores – compare soil profiles from untreated, limed, spaded and lime + spading treatments and discuss what is happening below the surface.
  • Farming systems – an update on the Manangatang systems trial and what the different systems are showing.
  • In-paddock trial visit – finish the day in the paddock looking at current soil amelioration research and demonstrations.

The morning will include a cuppa on arrival, morning tea and a BBQ lunch provided by BCG.
