We welcome Anna Marcus to the BCG team as a harvest casual. We chatted with Anna to help you get to know her:Â Â Â Â
What is your background?Â
I am originally from Penola in South Australia, north of Mt Gambier. I grew up on my family’s fifth generation farm. We produce prime lambs and run some trade cattle. My family is also involved in the wine industry; Mum manages the sales for a local cellar door and Dad is a winemaker. Â
I moved to Victoria in 2022 to study at Longerenong College. My time at Longerenong was great and I now have life–long friends across Victoria. I recently graduated with an Advanced Diploma in Agribusiness Management and a Diploma in Applied Agronomy. Â
What is your role at BCG and what will you be doing?Â
I have just started as a casual laboratory assistant at BCG. This involves helping Steve’o and the lab team test the quality of the grain as it comes in from harvested trials, amongst various other harvest duties. Â
What about the role interested you in applying?Â
I am really interested in doing something involving research agronomy so this role aligns with my desired career direction. BCG has a great reputation for high quality research, so it seemed like a perfect fit. The opportunity to gain greater exposure to this research is really exciting!Â
What are your interests outside work?Â
Outside of work I love playing and watching netball and football. I also love horse riding; both show jumping and hacking. Â
What are you looking forward to whilst working at BCG?Â
I am looking forward to learning more about the research that occurs at BCG. I am also excited to work with such a friendly team. So far, it’s been great and everyone has been so welcoming! Â
