Do you think it is getting hotter?
Do you think your rainfall patterns are changing?
Are you experiencing more frosts?
These climate questions and more are answered in a new series of climate guides produced by the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM), Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) and FarmLink Research as part of the Australian Government’s Drought Assistance Package.
The guides have been designed to help farmers understand and manage their climate risk by providing regionally focused climate and weather summaries that detail historical weather observations available from the BOM weather stations. The guides detail information such as frost, temperature and rainfall.
There are 57 climate guides in total which are based on the Natural Resource Management (NRM) regions in Australia. The information in each guide has been complied from interviews with local producers, agricultural advisors, local government and other relevant stakeholders from each region across Australia.
To view the climate guides for the Mallee and Wimmera regions visit the Climate Kelpie website.
