The BCG Technical Bulletin
- In the Mallee, insecticides are being applied and, in some parts, a second grass spray application on pulses to clean up any late germinations.
- Nitrogen (N) applications have stalled awaiting a strong forecast of rain which would likely see growers spreading again.
- The Wimmera is focused on broadleaf weed management, insect control and fungicide applications.
- Some are starting to notice effects of moisture stress around tree lines.
- In many areas the potential is there, but further rainfall is required.

Technical Bulletin No. 11 8.9.2023
- Stripe rust is becoming more apparent but not to the same levels as last year.
- Aphid numbers are building in some areas. Other insects are being monitored.
- Sheep markets are a pain point with producers trying to decide the best course of action with the current low returns.
- Brown manuring is underway and hay cutting has started in some areas largely driven by growth stage as a result of time of sowing or more northern regions. Harvest preparations are on the maintenance schedule.

Technical Bulletin No. 16 – 06.11.25
What's happening:
- Insect activity is increasing under favourable conditions, though few cases have reached economic thresholds for control.
- Low levels of stripe rust are being detected across Western Victoria, however growers with robust programs that included fungicide at sowing are reporting little to no evidence of foliar disease.
- Low GSR deciles, frosts in early September and favourable prices have growers considering cutting crops for hay instead of harvesting for grain.
- Preparations for harvest are underway.
