With technology and AI growing in agriculture, visitors at the BCG Main Field Day will have the chance to see what the future of farming might look like.
During the ‘Lunch and Look’ session, Michael Webb, co-founder of Ornata Ag, will lead the demonstration, showcasing the Ornata system live. Having grown up on his family’s farm in Bridgewater, Michael brings both practical farming experience and expertise in agricultural technology. Attendees are invited to grab their lunch and see firsthand how autonomous machinery can be integrated into modern farming systems.
The demonstration follows discussions featured in BCG’s Sowing Series on social media earlier this year, where Birchip farmer Simon Barbary shared his experience using autonomous machinery. Simon was drawn to the technology, not only because of his interest in innovation, but also as a practical solution to the ongoing challenge of finding reliable labour. Looking to the future, he also saw it as a way to support the long term viability of the family farm for the next generation.
The Ornata system retrofits on to any tractor, turning it into an autonomous machine, connected to their operations centre in Melbourne.
