Aim:

To compare the performance of existing and emerging barley varieties in the Wimmera.

96kg N/ha

^ Currently undergoing malting accreditation

  • Rosalind and Fathom were the highest yielding varieties in both sowing times.
  • The protein, screenings and test weight were within Malt specifications for all varieties in both sowing times.
  • One time of sowing did not result in better yields than the other unlike in previous year’s research.
  • Lodging was greater in time of sowing one and Compass and Commander were most affected.
  • Further analyses of the this time of sowing trial will be undertaken and presented in the 2016 Season Research Results compendium.
