Connectivity capability and trust: on-farm challenges and opportunities

BCG CEO Chris Sounness delivered an insightful presentation at the Agriculture Tech Forum in Sydney last month.

The forum, which was organised by Blue Chilli Group Internet of Things (IoT), provided an opportunity for an in-depth examination of the state of agtech in Australia and globally.

Presentations were delivered by software engineers, platform creators,  hardware  and sensor makers and people who are looking to invest with these people.

According to Chris, all were confident that agriculture has a bright future.

“I fully agree,” he said.

“However, where my perspective may differ slightly is that I believe investment in ag technology may not create a fortune for all involved.”

Chris said this was because there are a number of barriers preventing farmers from identifying the value proposition in this space.

“It is my take on opportunities and issues to ensure farmers get value from data and technology which may drive farmers to embrace traceability and recording leading to data curation,” he said.
