Welcome Danielle

The new year greeted BCG with a new staff member. Danielle Park joined the BCG team in the role of Chief Operations Officer. Many members had the opportunity to meet Danielle at Trials Review Day where she enjoyed seeing staff members share results and learn from local research.

Having worked in agriculture for over 15 years, I’ve had many opportunities to work in different areas of the production, science and business sides of agriculture. What has always remained constant is my focus on looking for the opportunity to make a positive contribution within agriculture.

Joining the BCG team is the next chapter for me and allows me to continue to follow my long held passion for the agricultural industry and the people who decide to make it their calling.

Over the last few years I’ve begun to read some of the essays and writings of Ralph Waldo Emerson. While I still have further reading, my current favourite quote from him is:

“Whoso would be a man, must be a nonconformist. He who would gather immortal palms must not be hindered by the name of goodness, but must explore if it be goodness. Nothing is at last sacred but the integrity of your own mind.” Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Much of his writing centres around the idea that each person has their own individual strengths and a unique role to play. This has been something I value and something I try to remember as I pursue my own path and work within teams of people and in the broader farming community. I’m fascinated to find out more about the individual strengths of those that I’m working with.

The BCG team has impressed me and I’m looking forward to working with a great team of people who are passionate about agriculture and their farming community. There is some exciting work underway and soon to begin at BCG – the discussions I’ve had so far tell me that great things are in the future for BCG.
