Aim:

To compare the performance of existing and emerging wheat varieties in the Southern Mallee managed to maximise yield.

Location:

Warmur (main research site)

Sowing date: 

4 May 2016 

Starting soil N (0-70cm): 

56kg N/ha

Previous crop type: 

2015 – fallow 

Fertiliser:

4 May         50kg/ha Granulock Sup Z + Impact  

21 June      80kg/ha urea  

29 August   60kg/ha urea

GSR:  

371mm

Wheat varieites Warmur

W = winter wheat

  • Trojan and Beckom were the highest yielding varieties.
  • Protein percentage was low in all varieties.
  • Maturity length did not appear to impact on final grain yield.
