Ever wondered how to integrate new family members into a family farm business or how siblings can have equal opportunities to be engaged in the farm following succession? Nuffield scholar and Kaniva grower, Jonathan Dyer demonstrated how he used a protein monitor on board his header to assess quality variations across paddocks and make decisions around grain marketing during the 2016 harvest.

Mr Dyer’s presentation was supported by Mr Sounness who outlined emerging opportunities for a farmer data co-operative to ensure that growers are at the forefront of data discussions and product development.

The event concluded with a panel discussion on the advantages and disadvantages of owning, co-owning and contracting machinery. Facilitated by Farm 360 consultant Simon Craig, Rupanyup farmer David Matthews and Kooloonong farmer Alistair Murdoch shared their machinery investment strategies and experiences.
