A word from the CEO

As we step into the promising expanse of 2024, I find myself filled with anticipation and enthusiasm for the opportunities that lie ahead for each of us in the farming community. The past seasons have been positive, offering us not just prosperity but also a chance to reflect on how we can leverage this success to further fortify and expand our farm businesses.

In the wake of several favourable seasons, it’s a pivotal time to consider how we intend to build upon these achievements and push our enterprises to perhaps even greater heights. Your experiences and strategies are at the heart of this progress and BCG is eager to hear your insights on the approaches you plan to adopt in 2024, particularly as part of our work with the Victoria Drought Hub.

How do you envision evolving your farm business in the year ahead?

Are there specific areas you aim to enhance or diversify?

Perhaps you’re contemplating investments in technology to optimise production, exploring new markets or crops or how you could integrate renewable energy sources on farm.

Sharing perspectives on innovation, sustainability, and resource management will be key to guiding us all toward a more robust and resilient agricultural landscape and could be an important step in achieving collective growth within our communities.

At BCG, we have always believed in the power of collaboration and shared knowledge. Your ideas and plans contribute immensely to our collective learning and progress. By sharing your intentions and strategies for 2024, you not only enrich our collective pool of wisdom but also inspire fellow farmers on their own paths to improvement.

During 2024 I encourage you all to participate actively, share your stories, insights, and ambitions. BCG will continue to work hard to foster an environment where learning from each other’s successes and challenges continues to be a cornerstone of our progress. BCG will create opportunities for such discussions through our field days, crop walks and Young Farmer Network activities. BCG are also producing a new podcast: Shared Ag Solutions by BCG which I encourage everyone to listen to.

If you feel the urge, please feel free to arrange with staff to drop in with particular ideas and questions.

As we embark on this journey into the new year, let’s look to not just maintaining the success we’ve achieved but also to innovating, adapting and building a sustainable future for our farming community.

I am very pleased to say that BCG is building on our achievements by bolstering its support for farmers with the addition of four enthusiastic agricultural science graduates to our team. Their passion, fresh perspectives, and knowledge will be instrumental in enhancing our services and support, reinforcing our commitment to your success.

Wishing you all a prosperous and fulfilling 2024.
