Many farmers across the northwest of Victoria are calling 2026 one of the best starts to a season they have experienced, but with spring still holding the key to securing yield potential, all attention is on what the weather will do next.
One of Australia’s leading meteorologists and weather presenters, Jane Bunn, will help farmers unpack what may lie ahead when she opens the BCG Main Field Day at Curyo on Wednesday, September 9.
Jane will present in the main marquee at 9.00 am to explore the climate drivers shaping the final weeks of the crucial spring period. Her presentation will provide a timely insight into the remaining seasonal outlook as growers weigh up key decisions and look to convert a strong start into a successful harvest.
Known for turning complex weather and climate information into practical insights, Jane is one of Australia’s most respected meteorologists and a trusted weather consultant to farming communities across south eastern Australia. Jane holds a Bachelor of Science from Monash University, majoring in Atmospheric Science and Mathematics, and was one of just nine students nationwide selected to complete the Bureau of Meteorology’s Graduate Diploma of Meteorology in 2006. As part of her studies, she also completed a semester at Penn State University, one of the world’s leading meteorology schools.
Following graduation, Jane worked as a forecaster with the Bureau of Meteorology in Sydney, Canberra and at the Royal Australian Air Force’s Williamtown Base.
In 2008, she joined The Weather Channel before becoming a familiar face to regional Victorians through WIN News, where her practical and engaging weather presentations earned her a loyal following.
Jane also provides specialist advice to the Country Fire Authority, the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action, and numerous organisations within the agricultural sector.
