We recently welcomed Swan Hill local, Grace Farrell, to the BCG team as a harvest casual, and asked her what brought her to BCG.Â
What is your background?
I grew up in Swan Hill with my parents and three brothers, where I completed primary school and high school. I then took a gap year and worked at the Swan Hill hospital as an Allied Health Assistant for the dieticians. I am now currently studying a Bachelor of Paramedic Practice with Honours at La Trobe University in Bendigo, which I am half-way through with two years to go.
What is your role at BCG?
My role at BCG is a harvest casual in the lab, where I will be undertaking grain analysis, harvest cuts, threshing grain and working in the field.
What about the role interested you in applying?
The role interested me in a number of ways but I was definitely enticed by the idea of getting to work in a team environment and broadening my skillset, as well as learning new things and meeting lots of new people both within the community and at BCG!
What are your interests outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, hanging out with my partner John and spending time at his farm, as well as playing netball. I also work as a disability support worker, which is a super rewarding role that I absolutely love!
What are you looking forward to whilst working at BCG?
I am most looking forward to getting to know all of the staff, learning more about agriculture and the research undertaken at BCG, as well as seeing how the organisation operates, particularly throughout the critical harvest period.
