The Birchip Cropping Group (BCG) is pleased to announce the appointment of Noah Homsy King as a graduate member of its Research Agronomy team.
What is your background?
I grew up in Uganda and worked as a farm hand on my Father’s orchard during Summer, harvesting figs, almonds and table grapes. I went on to study a Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems at the University of California, Davis (UC Davis). At UC Davis I joined a lab as a Research Assistant and gained first-hand experience with research and extension by working on a project analysing the impacts of sheep grazing in vineyards.
What is your role at BCG and what will you be doing?
I am a Research Agronomist, carrying out trials and analysing data, listening and connecting with the community, and bothering BCG staff during lunch!
What about the role interested you in applying?
I applied for the role because I was excited to do research and extension that was participative and relevant with a trusted organisation.
What are your interests outside work?
I love to cook, play soccer and discover new music from around the world. I also have fun camping, hiking and swimming in nature.
What are you looking forward to whilst working at BCG?
I’m looking forward to learning from and sharing my perspectives with the talented and passionate team at BCG and the wider Birchip community. I am happy to be living in a friendly, welcoming community and excited to try my hand at footy.
