Aim:                                    To independently assess the performance of existing and emerging canola varieties in the Mallee. 

Location:                                Manangatang

Sowing date:                          26 April 2016

Starting soil N (0-70cm):        104kg N/ha  

Previous crop type:                2015 – field peas  

Fertiliser:              26 April      60kg/ha Granulock Sup Z + Impact  

                             24 May      50kg/ha SOA  

                             23 June     60kg/ha urea   27 July  50kg/ha urea

GSR:                                      294mm

Canola Mallee Variety results 2016

  • The highest yielding varieties were 44Y90, NuSeed Diamond and GT50.  
  • The Manangatang trial site experienced several minor frost events in late August.
