BCG seeks a chief operations officer

BCG is looking for a workplace leader who is passionate about agriculture and making a difference on-farm, and encouraging the staff team to strive for excellence, both personally and as an organisation.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position title:             Chief Operations Officer (COO)

Job type:                    Permanent

Location:                    BCG, 73 Cumming Ave, Birchip, Victoria 3483

Supervisor:                Chief Executive Officer

Salary:                        Commensurate with experience

The chief operations officer is responsible for:

  • Supporting the CEO in providing leadership to the team enabling BCG to deliver high calibre agricultural research and events for farmers in the Wimmera, Mallee and beyond
  • Initiating project research and locations within the Wimmera and Mallee
  • Thinking laterally to effectively develop innovative options to tackle complex problems
  • Building effective relations with research and project partners to enhance BCG reputation for collaboration
  • Actively pursuing funding for research and development concepts, events and project ideas
  • Being accountable to ensure the BCG team delivers project milestones and outputs on time and within budget
  • Communicating project findings and research outcomes with farmers, advisors and key stakeholders
  • Building skills and capability in identified gaps to strengthen BCG ability to use research and extension to improve prosperity of Australia’s broadacre farmers
  • Support the CEO in marketing of BCG as an organisation, its membership, research and extension
  • Staff management and support.
