Come work in our lab this harvest!
We’re hiring harvest casuals for the 2026/2027 harvest season. Starting early November to potentially the end of January 2027, depending on the season. This is a great opportunity to gain hands on experience in a research lab and learn more about the work that goes into collecting and processing research data during harvest.
Qualifications, experience and personal attributes
Previous laboratory or agricultural experience is not essential, and formal qualifications are not required. This role is a great opportunity for someone looking to gain practical experience and learn more about research.
- A strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Demonstrated initiative, curiosity and a positive attitude.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a small laboratory team
- Good attention to detail and an ability to follow processes and procedures.
- Punctual
Please note that the responsibilities are predominately lab based (indoor) but some field work may be required.
Tasks and responsibilities
As part of the BCG laboratory team, you will assist with a range of harvest sampling and testing activities. This role involves processing different crop samples and supporting BCG’s agricultural research and trials program.
Tasks may include:
- Measuring and analysing harvest grain samples
- Accurately recording and entering data into Excel
- Hand threshing grain for yield results
- Assisting with harvest logistics and operations
- Weighing and handling biomass cuts
- Assisting with general laboratory tasks as required
- Following laboratory procedures and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Working collaboratively with a small team to ensure harvest samples are processed accurately and efficiently
- Maintaining a clean environment
