Grace Hosking, BCG’s Senior Manager – Communications & Extension, will soon be stepping into a new role within the organisation, creating an exciting opportunity for a new leader to join our team.

BCG is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our Senior Management Team as Senior Manager – Communications & Extension. This is a unique opportunity to lead and shape the way BCG translates world class agricultural research into practice, delivering measurable impact for farmers, communities and the wider grain-growing industry.

Reporting to the CEO, you will set strategy and standards across engagement and communications, oversee a small high-performing team, and ensure BCG’s voice remains independent, trusted, and farmer-focused.

What you’ll do

  • Provide strategic leadership across BCG’s communications and extension.

  • Deliver high-quality outputs (eNews, Technical Bulletin, Compendium, podcasts, media, website, social).

  • Plan and manage flagship events (e.g., Main Field Day, Trials Review Day).

  • Translate research into clear, practical messages that drive practice change.

  • Build relationships with funders, media, researchers, and industry partners.

  • Lead, coach, and grow a motivated multidisciplinary team.

  • Integrate MEL frameworks to track outcomes and inform continuous improvement.

  • Uphold and evolve BCG’s brand as a credible, independent source of agricultural knowledge.

What you’ll bring

  • Qualifications in communications, agricultural extension, agronomy, or related discipline.

  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering extension strategies that influence practice change.

  • Proven success in media engagement, digital storytelling, and stakeholder management.

  • Strong leadership: motivate, coach, and build capability across functions.

  • A passion for supporting farmers and a deep understanding of the agricultural sector.
