BCG is pleased to welcome Joe Collins to the team as a Research Assistant. Â
What is your background? Â
I’m from Woomelang and completed my Bachelor of Agriculture and Technology in Melbourne at La Trobe University before moving back home during the pandemic. Prior to working in the agricultural industry I worked at Tyrrell College in well-being support before moving into a national role with Country Education Partnership helping roll out, expand and facilitate the Rural Youth Ambassadors program. Â
What is your role at BCG and what will you be doing? Â
My role is Research Assistant, and my job is to help support the research team.Â
What about the role interested you in applying? Â
It is a great opportunity to apply my degree but also try something new career-wise and push me to challenge myself day-to-day.Â
Growing up and living in the Mallee region I’ve always admired BCG. The practical, on the ground research and extension was a real drawcard for me. Â
What are your interests outside work? Â
I have many interests, a lot relating to local community and the importance of connections. Â
Local football club, development associations, tourism, rural and remote communities, youth leadership and development, playing tennis and spending time with close family and friends.Â
What are you looking forward to whilst working at BCG?Â
I’m looking forward to working within a supportive team environment and helping the BCG team do what they do. I’m also looking forward to interacting with local growers and building on those relationships and understanding how BCG can continue to support and have an impact on local farming practices.Â
