Meet the Team: Pip Lees

Grace Hosking

BCG is pleased to welcome Pip Lees to the team as a research agronomist.

What is your background?

I grew up on a mixed farm with a focus on cattle and sheep production, located in Miga Lake in the West Wimmera of Victoria. I moved to boarding school in Adelaide and then continued to study and completed my Bachelor of Agricultural Science at the University of Adelaide.

What is your role at BCG and what will you be doing?

I have just started at BCG as a graduate research agronomist, and I will be assisting the team to develop, manage and collect results from field trials.

What about the role interested you in applying?

I have always had an interest in all things related to agriculture. When applying for graduate jobs, the research aspect of the role that BCG offered stood out to me.  I enjoyed my science degree at university and the idea of researching topics that are current and important to farmers excites me for future development of agriculture.

What do you hope to achieve in your role?

I hope to develop my knowledge across several aspects within research agronomy.  I’m hoping that the diversity that BCG has, will not only continue to interest me but also help me to discover aspects of research that I am passionate about. I look forward to working with such an exciting team to develop meaningful research that growers in the area can utilise.

What are your interests outside work?

Outside of work I always enjoy traveling back to the family farm and spending time with my family (especially our dogs). I enjoy water skiing, playing netball and catching up with friends.

What are you looking forward to whilst working at BCG?

I’m looking forward to meeting people around the community of Birchip and help take part in the important research that BCG delivers. I am excited to learn and gain experience from the team whilst being exposed to the wide variety of research that BCG offers.
