The importance of rituals in creating shared memories, building relationships and bonds and supporting strong mindsets is well-documented.
The last two years have highlighted just how important our rituals are.
Covid ruptured our rhythm and denied us the opportunity to stick to a routine, let alone to practise rituals. Time and time again, we were forced to cancel events and planned activities; to accept and adjust without complaint.
Now that we are on the ‘roadmap’ out, there seems to be a clearer way forward, we are all very keen both socially and in business ‘to get back to normal’, to the usual rhythm of life. (Even as I write, the emergence of the Omnicom strain is alerting us to possible further dangers: we must remain alert.)
2022
In 2022, BCG is looking forward to re-embracing the rituals which enable us to connect with our members, farming communities and researchers in person by means of our flagship events such as Trials Review Day (Friday 25th of Feb), Main Field Day and other strategically placed relevant workshops throughout the year.
Even more importantly, we are not satisfied with just ‘getting back to normal’.
Covid has taught us all that connecting with our family, friends and community should never be taken for granted, that we must place more emphasis and spend greater time into getting together, really being together.
With this in mind, expect to see more BCG social occasions such as the Chair’s Breakfast, GAPP events and ─ the big one for next year ─ BCG’s 30th Birthday Celebration.
We look forward to reconnecting with you in 2022, hearing your ideas and aspirations and having a laugh.
