BCG welcomed Jenna Allan to the team this week! So you can get to know her (and like her as much as we do) we asked her a few questions:
What is your background?
I am a Wycheproof local, our family (McNicols) had a farm at Towaninny before selling amidst drought conditions in my late teens. I studied a Bachelor of Applied Science (Property) at RMIT University and completed a traineeship with the Valuer General Victoria before becoming a qualified Property Valuer. I later moved to Bendigo doing property valuations for mortgage and family law purposes, before moving into Rating Valuation for a company based out of Kyabram. Following this I moved back to Wyche, where I took on Manager of the Wyche Resource Centre after having my first baby. I then started work as a Capital Project Officer for the Buloke Shire Council. I am married to Narraport farmer Ricky Allan and we have three kids.
What is your role at BCG and what will you be doing?
I will join BCG as a Project Coordinator, Stakeholder Engagement. My role is centred around the Drought Resilience Adoption and Innovation Hub (future drought fund) and will focus on the facilitation of stakeholder engagement for our North West ‘node’ area for a start.
What about the role interested you in applying?
I am drawn to the prospect of drought resilience due to my own past, personal experiences and the opportunity to be a part of a project that could do some really great things for not only the farming community but also the surrounding and supporting networks.
What are your interests outside work?
Keeping our offspring alive and well takes up a fair chunk of my time. I also love our weekend sport with netball, footy and tennis. When we’re not in the middle of harvest, the boat at Tchum Lake is also a great way to spend a weekend.
What are you looking forward to whilst working at BCG?
Being able to speak with a broad range of people and seeing where the project ends up taking us is a bit exciting! Everyone at BCG has been so lovely and welcoming thus far so its really great to be here working around some great people!
