What is your background?
I’m from Melbourne and I’m currently studying a Bachelor of Agriculture at the University of Melbourne, predominately at the Dookie campus. My major is Animal Production Systems.
What is your role at BCG and what will you be doing?
At BCG I’m working as a harvest casual which involves a bit of field work and lab work. In the lab I’m weighing grain samples, doing analysis and helping wherever I can.
What about the role interested you in applying?
I was interested in applying because I knew previous harvest casuals that really enjoyed their time at BCG. I wanted to get involved in the industry and gain experience because I haven’t had a chance to work in agriculture yet. I thought it would be a good way to spend my summer, form some networks and start to figure out what I like doing.
What are your interests outside work?
Outside of work I love grabbing a coffee with friends. I also really enjoy sport; I love snow skiing and tennis and I’d love to try water skiing!
What are you looking forward to whilst working at BCG?
Whilst working at BCG, I’m really looking forward to being a part of the Birchip community and to get involved where I can. I’m really excited to experience a new area and make new connections. I enjoyed living rurally while at Dookie, and I think Birchip will be a great experience. I’m also excited for the opportunity to learn as much as I can while I’m here.
What’s next for you?
Next year I will be finishing my last year of university. I’m not exactly sure what direction I will go in after my studies, I’m still deciding what sector of agriculture I’m most interested in. Maybe I’ll even come back to BCG next year!
