Role description – Agriculture Extension Officer

Working within the Extension team and reporting to Senior Manager – Extension & Communications, the ideal candidate for this role will have experience in agriculture, event management, project management, communications or related disciplines.
Graduates and experienced officers are encouraged to apply.
Qualifications, experience and personal attributes
Formal qualifications in agriculture, project management, event management or related disciplines desirable. Transferable skills will be acknowledged.
We’re looking for someone with a strong interest in broadacre agriculture who enjoys working with people and communicating practical, technical information with attention to detail.
Tasks & responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and editing of BCG communications, including technical bulletins, eNews, media content and other publications.
- Work with the BCG Research team to communicate project and research findings in accordance with contract milestones using innovative thinking that will engage farmers and industry.
- Support planning, coordination and delivery of BCG events including Main Field Day, Trials Review Day, Young Farmer Network events, crop walks and workshops.
- Build relationships with growers, agronomists, researchers and industry, and engage with farmers to understand seasonal issues and information needs.
- Assist with funding applications and the development of new projects and extension activities.
- Work collaboratively across the BCG team to identify new and effective ways to share research and engage with growers.
