Meet the Team: Stephanie Scott
BCG welcomes Stephanie Scott to the team as a Communications and Extension Intern!
What is your background?
I am a Melbourne-based girl from Camberwell. My connection with agriculture stems from my early childhood in which I would visit my grandpa’s farm on the weekends, situated in the Gippsland region of Victoria. So far, I have completed an undergraduate degree of a Bachelor of Agriculture and am in the process of completing my master’s degree of Agricultural Science, specialising in Agribusiness. During my master’s degree, I also completed an internship at AGCO, working with the Fendt and Valtra brands on a variety of tasks including cost-pricing analysis’, dealership performance reviews and event management.
What is your role at BCG and what will you be doing?
I will be completing an internship placement at BCG under the Communications and Extension team, assisting in event management and project management.
What about the role interested you in applying?
I first heard about BCG through university, where Fiona was a guest speaker for one of my subjects. A year later, I was in the process of looking for an internship for a university subject when I happened to have a connection through my existing internship. He too, used to work for the extension and communications team at BCG and mentioned that I should reach out. Having heard about the organisation prior and their advancements in the agricultural industry, I knew it would be an amazing opportunity to further develop my skillset and gain a broader scope of the industry.
What are your interests outside work?
I am a very active person, so I try to exercise and go to the gym as much as possible, as well as play hockey. Travelling is also a major hobby of mine, so when I get time off of work, I try to make the most of it by visiting new countries/places.
What are you looking forward to whilst working at BCG?
I am very excited to learn more about the Mallee region and the current research and development projects taking place. I am especially interested in gaining more insight into the firsthand issues, opportunities and barriers facing Australian farmers, and how BCG work together to resolve and manage current projects.
